These terms apply when you buy a certificate from Open A Box at openabox.biz. Please read them — they're short, and considerably less pompous than our certificates.
1. Who we are
- Trader: Dick Ferg, a sole trader trading as Trident
- Customer-facing brand: Open A Box
- Business address: 1 Pinders Green Court, Leeds LS26 9BB
- Email: info@openabox.biz
You can reach us at the email address above about your order, a problem, or these terms.
2. What we sell
We sell a single product: a personalised novelty “Certified Idiot” certificate supplied as a printable A4 landscape PDF, for £5 (GBP). Nothing physical is posted.
3. It is not a real qualification
The certificate is a joke gift. The “Most Honourable Academy of Open A Box”, its faculty, motto, crest and signatories are fictional. The certificate confers no academic, professional, vocational or legal status and must not be presented as genuine evidence of any qualification. You agree not to use it to deceive anyone.
4. Ordering and payment
- You must be 18 or over, or have permission from a parent or guardian.
- Payment is taken by Stripe at checkout. We never receive or store your card details.
- A contract is formed when your payment is confirmed to us by Stripe.
- Prices include any taxes we are required to charge.
5. Delivery
After payment is confirmed, your certificate is generated and made available through a private download link and sent to the email address you provide. If you don't receive it within an hour, check your spam folder and then email us at info@openabox.biz.
6. Names and acceptable use
You're responsible for the spelling of the name you enter. Please keep it good-natured: we may refuse, cancel or refund orders containing hateful, threatening, obscene or harassing content, or names of people used to bully them. Only use someone else's name if you reasonably believe they'd take it in good humour.
7. Cancellations and refunds
Your certificate is personalised digital content, created as soon as your payment is confirmed. Before paying you must tick an unticked box confirming: “I ask you to create and supply my personalised certificate immediately, within the 14-day cancellation period, and I acknowledge that I will lose my right to cancel once supply begins.” Once your certificate has been created, you can't cancel for a change of mind. We confirm this consent in your order confirmation email.
This does not affect your statutory rights. If your certificate is faulty, not as described or not delivered, you're entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. See our refund policy.
8. Licence
You may print, share and gift your certificate for personal, non-commercial use. The design and artwork remain ours; please don't resell or mass-produce them.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any order is limited to the price you paid. We are not responsible for any reputational damage incurred by the recipient, who presumably earned it.
10. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
